Venom CoLab - Sea Anemone

The Sea Anemone team’s goal is to find a new treatment for autoimmune disorders. This group learns about how autoimmune diseases are caused by a person’s T-cells attacking their own body, mistaking cells for invaders like viruses and bacteria. To stop T-cells from attacking too much, a peptide can bind to potassium ion channels on T-cells to make them less active. This group’s material is inspired by research on the peptide ShK.

After purchasing seats, teachers are able to select the roles for each student and the organism for each group. If you would like your students to focus on treatment for autoimmune disease, please select Sea Anemone for the organism.
