Venom CoLab - Scorpion

The Scorpion team’s goal is to find a new treatment to help find cancer cells in humans. This group learns about the challenge of distinguishing cancer cells from healthy cells. To treat cancer, a peptide from venom can be used to stick a fluorescent molecule to chloride ion channels on cancer cells. When the cancer cells glow, a surgeon can remove the cancer and leave healthy cells alone! This group’s material is inspired by the real treatment, Tumor Paint™.

After purchasing seats, teachers are able to select the roles for each student and the organism for each group. If you would like your students to focus on finding cancer cells in humans, please select Scorpion for the organism.
