Playtesting FUNDED in three boroughs!
Playing FUNDED over lunch!
This week we had the opportunity to test out our newest game, FUNDED, developed with C&A Scientific at two schools and an after school program in three boroughs of New York City!
Our first stop was the Boys and Girls Club of Queens. We watched a group of 16 middle school students play the game, take turns using the microscope and learn about what it takes to build a research lab. We learned from this experience the importance of the container of the slides that players need to be able to select randomly.
Next we went to the Computer School in Manhattan, which has a well-developed game club. These students seemed to really enjoy it and gave us some great feedback on how to make the game stronger and more strategic. We left there energized and ready to make some immediate changes to the paper prototype.
Our beautifully colorful game includes a microscope!
Finally, we went to MS 136 in Brooklyn to playtest the game with the new additions that we made after the Computer School. MS 136 has a lot of English Language Learner students and we were thrilled to see that they were able to play the game, including the microscope use, very easily!
Each game that Killer Snails develops goes through a lot of iterative playtesting- this week was just one snapshot of how FUNDED has evolved thanks to the imaginative players we met!
